Manga Kenkanryu (Anti-Korea Wave) is a Japanese manga book where Koreans are described as ugly and stupid. In this manga, the author, Sharin Yamano, says that Japanese colonial rule in Korea was a good thing and Koreans must say "thank you" to Japan for the Japanese rule of their nation. It was thought to be racism by many people, including Japanese.[source?]

What the author says in the book[change | change source]

  • Killing Korean culture is good, not evil. It is good because it lets Koreans be treated as "equal" to the Japanese.
  • Korea could not modernize by itself. If Japan had not ruled Korea, Korea would be a poor, primitive country now.
  • Koreans begged Japan to rule their country.[source?]
