Mark Takai

Kyle Mark Takai (July 1, 1967 – July 20, 2016) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Hawaii's 1st district from January 3, 2015 until his death. He was also a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2014. He became a lieutenant colonel in the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2013.

Takai was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was of Japanese ancestry. He was married to Sami and had two children.

Takai was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2015. He died on July 20, 2016 in Aiea, Hawaii. He was 49.[1]
