Maryport is a town on the A596 road in Allerdale, Cumbria, England. In 2001 there were 11,275 people living in Maryport.
The Romans built the fort Uxellodunum in Alauna (which is now called Maryport) around the year 122, to help defend the western end of Hadrian's Wall.[source?]
