Mela Thaomei Thaanpa (Mera Thaomei Thaanba) or Mela Waa Yungpa (Mera Waa Yungba) festival of Meitei/Meetei/Manipuri ethnicity of Manipur (Kangleipak) is celebrated to strengthen the bond of unity between the people of hills and plains (valley).

Mera Hou Chongba (Old Manipuri: Mela Hou Chongpa)(literally, "merrymaking in Mera") or Mera Thaomei Thaanba (Old Manipuri: Mela Thaomei Thaanpa)(literally, "lighting oil lamps in Mera") or Mera Waa Yungba (Old Manipuri: Mela Waa Yungpa)(literally, "bamboo poll erection in Mera") is a festival celebrated by the Meitei ethnicity and the tribesmen communities of Manipur, on the 15th lunar day of "Mera" (Old Manipuri: Mela) month of the Meitei calendar (Manipuri calendar), mainly in the Sana Konung of Imphal. The main theme of the festival is the unity and love between the Meitei people and all the tribesmen of Manipur.[1][2]
