Merkwiller-Pechelbronn is a commune. It is in Grand Est in the Bas-Rhin department in northeast France. It is known for its oil sands mining.

Oil sands were mined from 1745 in Merkwiller-Pechelbronn. The Pechelbronn oil field was active until 1970. The first modern oil refinery was built there in 1857.
