NGC 6503

NGC 6503 is a dwarf spiral galaxy in the Draco constellation. It is about 18 million light-years away from Earth. It was first discovered by a German astronomer Arthur Auwers in 1860.

It is located right at the edge of a giant, mostly empty void, called the Local Void.^[1] Because of this isolated location, astronomers sometimes called it as the "Lost in Space" galaxy. It has a very bright central core surrounded by swirling arms filled with bright red patches of gas and newborn stars.^[2]
