Nu (mythology)

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Symbol of water

Nu (also called Nun) was a god in Ancient Egyptian religion. His name means "Watery One" or "The Inert One".

Nu was shown as a man, but he represented the cosmic ocean that existed before the world was created. In Egyptian belief, everything came from this dark and endless water.

Nu is sometimes seen as one of the first gods and is linked with the creation of the world. He also represents chaos, and it was believed that everything could return to this state.

His female partner was the goddess Nunet.[1]
