Olga Valentinovna Korbut (born May 16, 1955 in Grodno, Belarus), also known as the "Sparrow from Minsk", is an athlete, and retired Belarusian gymnast. She competed in two Summer Olympics, and won a total of four Olympic gold medals and two Olympic silver medals for the Soviet Olympic gymnastics team in the course of her gymnastics career. She participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1976 Summer Olympics.
Olga Korbut was known for her capacity to do backwards flips from the balance beam and uneven parallel bars, at a time when no other gymnast could.[1]
After her retirement from gymnastics, she became a teacher.
