Patrick Dewaere (26 January 1947 – 16 July 1982) was a French actor. Born in Saint-Brieuc, Côtes-d'Armor, he was the son of French actress Mado Maurin. His career lasted more than 31 years, until his suicide in Paris in 1982.[1]

He was nominated six times at the César Awards between 1976 and 1982, but never won.

He was one of the most important French actors of the 1970-1980 era, with his friend Gérard Depardieu. They won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 1979 with Bertrand Blier's Get Out Your Handkerchiefs.

He is the father of French actress Lola Dewaere, and screenwriter Angèle Herry.
