Paul Mescal (/ˈmɛskəl/;[1][2] born 2 February 1996) is an Irish actor. His role in the miniseries Normal People (2020), earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. His role in the 2022 movie Aftersun, earned him nominations for the BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Actor. He is also known for playing William Shakespeare in the 2025 movie Hamnet (2025).
