Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 17: Phantasy Star Generation: 2 (SEGA AGES 2500シリーズ Vol.17 ファンタシースター generation:2) is the seventeenth entry in the Sega Ages 2500 series for the PlayStation 2.

This game is much like Phantasy Star Generation: 1, except that it stands as a remake of Phantasy Star II. Like the first "generation" a number of tweaks were made to bring it in line with more modern RPGs, and the graphics and sound have been updated.

Also included is an emulated version of the Mega Drive Phantasy Star II (the Japanese version).

Description

Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 17: Phantasy Star Generation: 2 is the seventeenth entry in the Sega Ages 2500 series for the PS2. Similarly to the Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 01: Phantasy Star: Generation:1, this game is a modern remake of Phantasy Star II including new graphics, sounds, and gameplay. Also included an emulated version of the Mega Drive Phantasy Star II.

Phantasy Star II is the second installment in Sega's acclaimed Phantasy Star series and serves as a sequel to the original Phantasy Star for the Master System. Phantasy Star II takes place 1,000 years after the events of its predecessor and follows the journey of a government agent named Rolf and his friends, who are on a mission to discover why the protector of the planet Mota, Mother Brain, has started malfunctioning.
