Province of Moray

Moray was a province within the area of modern-day Scotland. Up to the 12th century, Moray may have acted as an independent kingdom or power base for competing claimants to the Kingdom of Alba. The status of Moray's rulers in unclear, with some being described as kings and others as mormaers.
