Rauf Aregbesola

Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola was born on May 25, 1957 in Ilesa, Osun state. Aregbesola is a Muslim born of Muslim and Christian parents. He was the former civilian governor of Osun State from 26th of November 2010 to 26th of November 2018 and the 8th Governor of the state.

Aregbesola had both his primary and secondary education in Ondo State, he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Polytechnic Ibadan in 1980.

Political appointment[change | change source]

He was appointed Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Lagos State by Senator Bola Tinubu who was the Governor of Lagos state. Aregbesola served as Commissioner from 1999 to 2007. In August 2019 he was appointed as Minister of Interior of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Muhammed Buhari.
