From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A regency (Indonesian: kabupaten) is government division of Indonesia. First, the country is divided into provinces. Then, provinces are divided into regencies. The Indonesian word kabupaten is also sometimes translated as "municipality." Regencies and cities are divided into districts (called Kecamatan, or Distrik in Papua).[1][2]
