Rusholme

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rusholme is an area of Manchester and a ward of the city council, two miles south of the city centre. 13,643 people lived there at the 2011 census. Rusholme is next to Chorlton-on-Medlock to the north, Longsight to the east, Fallowfield to the south and Moss Side to the west. There are several student halls and many students renting terraced houses.

Platt Fields Park is a large public park in the south-west with a lake. It opened in 1910. Wilmslow Road runs through the area. It is said to be the busiest bus route in Europe, going to the universities and the city centre.[1] Part of the road is called the Curry Mile. There are at least 70 restaurants, takeaways and kebab houses mostly from South Asia and the Middle East. [2]

Richard Cobden lived there.
