Salma Lakhani is a Canadian businessperson and philanthropist. She will be the next Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. She will also be the first Muslim Lieutenant Governor in Canada.[1]

Early life and education[change | change source]

Lakhani was born in Uganda. In 1972, the leader of Uganda made all Asian people leave the country. Because of this, she and her husband moved to Edmonton in 1977, from the United Kingdom.[2] She got a bachelor's degree with honours from the University of Manchester. She studied clinical biochemistry.
