Salma Lakhani AOE (born 1951 or 1952) is a Canadian businessperson and philanthropist. She is the 19th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. She is the first Muslim Lieutenant Governor of Canada.

Early life and education[change | change source]

Lakhani was born in Uganda. In 1972, the leader of Uganda made the expulsion of Asians from Uganda. Because of this, she and her husband moved to Edmonton in 1977, from the United Kingdom.[1] She got a bachelor's degree with honours from the University of Manchester. She studied clinical biochemistry.
