Samuel Peralta "Sammy" Sosa (born November 12, 1968 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic) is a retired Dominican baseball player. Sosa played for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers during his career. He was known for the many home runs he hit. Sosa has also run into some controversy for steroids which he denied taking.

He became eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013.
