Samuel Rivera

Samuel Rivera (1946 – May 1, 2020)[1] was an American politician and criminal. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was Mayor of Passaic, New Jersey from 2001 until 2008.

On September 6, 2007, Rivera was indicted and arrested on charges of accepting bribes.[2][3] Rivera pleaded guilty to attempted extortion and resigned.[4] He was sentenced to 21 months in prison.[5]

Rivera died on May 1, 2020 of problems caused by multiple strokes, aged 73.[6]
