SkyTrain (Vancouver)
The SkyTrain is the rapid transit (RT) railway system in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is run by TransLink. The trains run on weekdays from 5:00 a.m. until around 12:30 a.m. On weekends, they run on shorter hours during for the Expo and Millennium lines.[1]
Construction for the first line of the SkyTrain started on March 1, 1982.[2] It was first opened on December 11, 1985.[3]
There are three lines: the Expo, Millennium, and Canada.[4][5][6] Along with the lines, there are 54 stations and 13 under construction.[7][8] The total length of all three lines is 79.6 km, and an additional 21.7 km is under construction.[9][10]
The SkyTrain was at one point the longest fully automated driverless system in the world. It is also the longest rapid transit system in Canada.[11] There is an average of 446,400 passenger trips each weekday (as of 2023).[12]
