Takaoka (高岡市, Takaoka-shi) is a Japanese city in Toyama Prefecture on the island of Honshu.[1]

Takaoka was established in 1609.[2] It developed as a castle town.[3]

The modern city of Takaoka was established in 1889.

In 1933, Takaoka's large statue of the Buddha (Daibutsu) was created.[1]
