Talk:Capitalism
definition
[change source]I believe that a good definition of capitalism is when the means of production is controlled by individuals rather than the gov't (i.e., socialism) or workers (i.e., communism). Does this definition seem appropriate to others? Sigiheri (talk) 19:04, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Regarding "investing", gambling would fit this definition as would charity. I think there is a problem with the definition. Opinion?
Investment does not equal ownership
[change source]I do not believe that investment as defined here equates to ownership. Ppl gamble, but are not owners. Ppl invest in charity but are not owners. I would like to change this unless others disagree. Sigiheri (talk) 19:24, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Adam Smith was a capitalist?
[change source]Adam Smith was a classical economist, like Marx. They both believed that value came from labor not capital. May I ask for evidence that Smith was a "capitalist"?

Not academic
[change source]This first sentence, "Socialists and communists are people who do not support capitalism." does not seem appropriate. I would not call ppl "socialists". You can say: In contrast to capitalism, socialism involves the gov't owning the means of production, etc. What do ppl think? Sigiheri (talk) 01:01, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
