Monarchy[change source]

Parliament was apparantly willing to accept Charles I as a constitutional monarch but he always refused this insisting that he was entitled to rule as an autocrat.

Charles the II seems to have been far more politically astute and recognised that a UK autocracy was finished for good and was prepared to be a constitutional monarch. AT Kunene (talk) 11:24, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
