The definition is wrong, and the example is also wrong[change source]

The definition of equation is wrong. The mathematical definition should be "An equation is an equality containing at least one variable". The variable is mandatory in an equation. Therefore, 0=0 is not an equation. It is only an equality. -- Yejianfei (talk) 14:13, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The definition is ludicrous as this encyclopedia is intended for people who are just learning English, hence it should be written at a very low level with the concepts reduced to that level. An equation is like a balance, if you place a weight of five in one pan of the balance you must put a weight of five in the other pan to make a balance; what you do to one side of the balance you must do to the other side of the balance in order to keep the two sides equal, hence 5 + 2 = 5 + 2 This "simple" encyclopedia has become a joke.
