Talk:No Safe Spaces

This movie is not really about safe spaces. That is, it does not go into any detail about what these safe spaces are like, and I'm not sure that it even shows one. Rather, it shows the students who did not retreat to safe spaces. Of course, it does use that in its name, so we'll need to explain in simple English. This meaning of "safe space" is not simple English, so we must explain that too.

The movie does indeed advance an idea of freedom of speech. In the movie, I think Obama put it best, so I'll try to simplify his quote. But the view the film criticizes seems to be one opposed to freedom of speech in some cases. If there is an opposing meaning of freedom of speech, we should explain that.

I'll have a go of fixing this while keeping as much as we can of recent contributions. DougHill (talk) 22:24, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
