Push Factors: (From the countryside): • Lack of food due to crop failure causes people to move away from the countryside. • Extreme conditions in the countryside. eg drought and heat. • Lack of services. • Lack of employment • Being forced off land.

Pull factors: (To the city): • Employment. • Possibility of having better housing, hospitals, education and water and electricity supply. • Prospect of a reliable source of food.
