I was just wondering who wrote this page-from Bob S.

whoever wrote it it is a really good page - I learnt stuff I did not know Chidgk1 (talk) 19:07, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Simplifying vs Dumbing down[change source]

When the article is dumbed down, it becomes less than accurate. An example is using the word "good" to substitute for the word "ideal". They do not mean the same thing. It's better to link the word. Rus793 (talk) 17:20, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Use “best”? Chidgk1 (talk) 18:12, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is soil the best place to grow plants or just very good? Chidgk1 (talk) 19:07, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should say best, and take away the quotation marks because it's not a direct quote. Everyone knows that plants usually grow in soil, so "best" is more informative than "ideal". Lights and freedom (talk) 19:11, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But I am not an expert on soil and I have not got the source book “Brady and Weil 2008. The nature and properties of soils, 14th ed.“ So I don’t know if hydroponics is better or not. Chidgk1 (talk) 19:14, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, then just leave it as is. Lights and freedom (talk) 19:18, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I changed ‘ideal’ to ‘very good’ because ‘ideal’ is not a simple word. Also I am going to remove the source because although ‘ideal’ means ‘best’ hydroponics might have got better since 2008. Chidgk1 (talk) 19:21, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
