Tosashimizu (土佐清水市, Tosashimizu-shi) is a Japanese city in Kōchi Prefecture on the Pacific coastline of the island of Shikoku.[1]
History
[change | change source]The village of Nakanohama in what is now Tosashimizu was the birthplace of Nakahama Manjirō, who was the first known Japanese to live in the United States in the mid-19th century.[2]
The modern city was established in 1954.
