Trainspotting is a 1996 British crime comedy drama movie. It is based on the novel of the same name. This movie is about heroin addicts in late 1980s Edinburgh. Other themes in this movie are urban decay and poverty. Kelly Macdonald plays Diane. Ewan McGregor plays Mark Renton.

This movie was released in February 1996 in the United Kingdom, and July 1996 in the United States.

A sequel, Trainspotting 2, is being filmed.
