UK City of Culture
UK City of Culture is a national award given every four years to a city in the United Kingdom. It recognises outstanding celebrations of culture. Past winners include Coventry and Hull. The award has been given since 2009. It was started by the Culture Secretary of the UK at the time, Andy Burnham Several cities are nominated in each competition, then they compete to show why they should win the award.[1]
