Adachi Myokengu also known as Mioya Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Kitakyushu.[2]
It is dedicated to Ame-no-Minakanushi, who is sometimes known by the Buddhist name Myōken[3], hence the alternative name
It was founded by the nobleman Wake no Kiyomaro after he foiled the plans of Dōkyō to seize power. He was exiled to mount adachi and founded the shrine on it after wild boars sasved him[1]. He founded the shrine in 770[1]
Shimogamo Shrine has a similar formal name "Kamo-mioya Shrine'" (賀茂御祖神社, Kamo-mioya jinja). While some words only sound similar in Japanese but have different characters, this one is common in characters too.[4]
People Hike up Mount Adachi on a route that goes by it.[5]
