2NE1[1] (pronounced "to anyone" or "twenty-one" and written in Korean like this"투 에니원") is a girl pop group in South Korea. They consists of 4 member; CL[2](Leader), Bom Park[3], Sandara Park[4] and Minzy gong[5]. Their agency is YG enterhtainment[6], which is famous for their big hit group- Big Bang[7]. 2NE1 was first created as girl's versoin of Big bang, so they are frequently compared with Big Bang and called 'women Big Bang'. They made their debut in a cell phone advertisement named 'lollipop phone'. That commercial film is actually a part of their music video for their song "lollipop"[8]. That song is very addictive, so both the song and advertisement became very famous. Also Big bang appears on the commercial film, so it helped 2NE1 to be famous quickly.

2NE1's name indicates many meanings. When 2NE1 is pronounced 'TO ANYONE', it means that they make music for everyone regradless of sex or age. In case it's pronouned 'twenty one', it means that this group remains passionate and fresh. Also they have big dream to be 21st century's revolutionary group.

Teir debut single "Fire" was released on May 6, 2009. After 2NE1 was first renowned by 'lollipop', they concentrate on advertising their title song, 'Fire'. They won their popularity partly because they are different from other girl groups. Usually girl groups emphasize beautiful and sexy image. However, 2NE1 focuses on powerful dance and addictive melody. Their music genre is hip-hop[9] and reggae[10]. They won several awards shortly after their debut and they are one of the top music groups. 2NE1 is still gaining more popularity.
