A flash cartridge (or flash cart, or flashcart) is a type of cartridge used to load homebrew and offical games in to a video game console, such as the Nintendo DS using a Micro SD card.

This used be the only way for homebrew to be on a console but is not required anymore since hackers use exploits in the system.

Flash carts are banned in certain countries because it it can load official games, which is illegal in those countries.^[1]
