NAL BELUR SOMESHWARA TEMPLE 1295CE VAMMA BHATTAR AND SEMBHATTAR BASEMNET INSCRIPTION

NAL Belur Someshwara Temple 1295CE Vamma bhattar and Sembhattar is located in Bengaluru Urban District ,Bengaluru East Taluk,and Varthur 1 of Hobli in the village of BELUR .This inscription is in tamil script and Tamil language is used on this inscription while writing , which is also one of the most oldest Inscription in the NAL BELUR SOMESHWARA TEMPLE . It was built by the Cholas dynasty and later it was renovated by the Veerendra Hegde of Dharmasthala and the temple has a Shiva Linga ,Parvathi ,Ganesha Nara, Nandi , it is one of best temples of Bengaluru where the temple looks like a Holy place.

SCRIPT AND LANGUAGE:

This Inscription is in GRANTA AND TAMIL script and in Tamil language which was written in the 12th century.

INSCRIPTION SIZE AND TYPICAL CHARATER SIZE :

[1] This inscription is mostly of 21226 cm long

[2] And 22 cm tall.

[3] This inscription has the Typical Charater size which is 5.8 cm tall

[4] The Widith of the inscription is 4.4 cm wide ,and the depth of this script is 0.25 cm deep.

This Inscription was read by the most known people for reading and analyising the olden script of the history Epigrahy period there are SOUNDARI RAJKUMAR and PON KARTHIKEYAN (CITIZEN EPIGRAPHIST).

This inscription was discovered by the MYTHIC SOCIETY Bengaluru inscription 3D Digital Conservation project team .

ஸ்வஸ்தி ஸ்ரீ வீரராமநா தேவர்க்கு 41 ஆவது.......லாத்து ஆவணி மாதது மிந்நாள்....தழுவகுழைந்தபட்ட ரெந் குளந்தூரிலிருக்கு....வம்மபட்டர் செம்பட்டற்கு உடை யார் ஶிவநீஶ்வரமுடைய நாயநார் திருநாம்மத்துக்காணி (ந)ஞ்சை புஞ்சை நாற்பாலெல்லையும் மேலோங்கி ன மரமும் கீழ்நோக்கின...கண்ம(யு)ம் ஒக்கதோம் பாதி.....மகா.... ....ள்ளக்கிட....ணத்தேந்.

ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವೀರರಾಮನಾ ತೇವರ್ಕ್ಕು 41 ಆವತು.......ಲಾತ್ತು ಆವಣಿ ಮಾತತು ಮಿನ್ನಾಳ್....ತೞುವಕುೞೈಂತಪಟ್ಟ ರೆನ್ ಕುಳಂತೂರಿಲಿರುಕ್ಕು....ವಮ್ಮಪಟ್ಟರ್ ಚೆಂಪಟ್ಟಱ್ಕು ಉಟೈ ಯಾರ್ ಶಿವನೀಶ್ವರಮುಟೈಯ ನಾಯನಾರ್ ತಿರುನಾಮ್ಮತ್ತುಕ್ಕಾಣಿ (ನ)ಞ್ಚೈ ಪುಂಚೈ ನಾಱ್ಪಾಲೆಲ್ಲೈಯುಂ ಮೇಲೋಂಕಿ ನ಼ ಮರಮುಂ ಕೀೞ್ನೋಕ್ಕಿನ಼...ಕಣ್ಮ(ಯು)ಮ್ ಒಕ್ಕತೋಂ ಪಾತಿ.....ಮಕಾ.... ....ಳ್ಳಕ್ಕಿಟ....ಣತ್ತೇನ್.

It is said that this inscription covers the entire 21 meters length of the temple basement , a large portion of the inscription is unreadable as the surface has been flaked and worn out. Svasti Sri ! In the regeion of 41year of Vira Ramanatha Devar ,in this month of Avani1 , Thazhuvakuzhayntha Bhattar ,gave wet and dry lands within four boundaries for the Lord Sivaniswaramudaiya Nayanar. Its also related to the temple and installed in the vicinity have been documented as Bn72&73 in EC9. It is also said that Vamma Bhattar and SemBhattar donated their land and house they had purchased from Kuzhantha Bhattar to a Pillaiyar . This temple was ruined in 1992 ,when Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Dharmothana trust restroed it .The most proximity of this temple , a damaged 8th century Durga idol and a damaged 10th century Chandikeshwara idol was also been preserved. The Durga idol as perhaps testimony to Belandur Lake being at least 1300 years old. the worship beside the lake is an old Ganga period practice (5th century to 10th century).
