False accusation[change source]

I am a long time editor on the English Wikipedia and have made quite a few articles for Simple English Wikipedia. I made an article to bridge between the Spider article (which I am trying to clean up) and the Hogna carolinensis article (which I wrote for English Wikipedia and intend to simplify for this site). The article was deleted by someone who seems to believe that I was guilty of plagiarism because I quoted a choice half sentence from an excellent old book on spiders. Rather than suggest that I paraphrase, he killed the entire article. I wrote to him saying that killing the article for something that could easily been paraphrased seemed a bit extreme. He replied that he believed that I copied the entire article, and that he was restoring the article for at least the time he would need to check on whether I had indeed copied what I wrote. Fortunately for me, the book is still in print (with a slightly different title) so he can go buy a copy -- but then I might have copied what I actually wrote from any other book on spiders, no? So the whole thing seems wrong to me.

I hope this kind of behavior on the part of an administrator is not the usual kind of thing to happen on Simple English Wikipedia.Patrick0Moran (talk) 08:16, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
