Table Rock Lake[change source]

Table Rock Lake is known for its crystal clear blue waters, lunker bass and even the Missouri State Paddlefish record of 104 pounds. The lake was created with the US Corps of Engineers built a 6,423 foot long dam across the White River and crated a 52,000 acre lake with over 800 miles of shore line. Construction began in 1954 and was completed 4 years later.

The lake accomplished four major things.

1. Electricity for the states of 2. Flood Control – The dam controls the flow of water as it flows through Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake. 3. Excellent Recreation including excellent fishing with bass, crappie, white bass, catfish, blue gill and Missouri’s record paddlefish of 104 pounds. 4. Fish Hatchery – Missouri’s largest fish hatchery known as, “The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery” is owned and operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation and raises rainbow and brown trout. Water flows from the bottom of the lake at 48 degrees which enables the hatchery to produce 1,125,000 rainbow and brown trout annually. 700,000 of these are stocked in Lake Taneycomo which flows through Branson.

Table Rock Lake is surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest and banks are now the homes of lake resorts, campgrounds, condos and bed & breakfast
