Hello, Jpbowen, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! PTO 23:01, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jpbowen. We welcome your changes to Wikipedia, but if you are closely associated with some of the people, places or things that you have written about in the article Jonathan Bowen, you may need to read our advice on conflicts of interest.

All users need to follow Wikipedia's neutral point of view rules for content. People with a close connection to a subject often have a strong opinion about it. This may cause them to change the article in ways that make it either too flattering or too critical. They will most often not be aware they are doing it. Everybody is allowed to write about whatever subjects they want to, but they need to be very careful about making sure their changes are supported by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject you are writing about, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid changing or creating pages related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with. If you do decide to write about these things, be very careful with how you do it.
  • Be careful about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to give information about independent sources in deletion discussions. However, try not to give an opinion about whether an article should be deleted.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Be very careful so that you do not accidentally break Wikipedia's rules.

Please make yourself familiar with Wikipedia's rules and guidelines on content — especially those about neutral point of view, giving sources, and autobiographies. Thank you. Bobherry (talk) 16:37, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jpbowen! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Jonathan Bowen". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! Thank you for the informantion. I mainly edit the English Wikipedia, but will learn the simple Wikipedia ways better. I have tried simplifying sentences at least. --Jpbowen (talk) 11:12, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
