Reason against quick deletion[change source]

The simple wikipedia article is a direct copy of the lead section in English wikipedia. But its language is very simple. I have worked on the readability of the lead in English wikipedia for weeks now. Its readability currently stands at : "The Flesch reading ease score is 66, this means that 88% of the articles on Wikipedia are harder to read than this one. On Simple Wikipedia this holds for 64% of the articles." (Source : http://www.readabilityofwikipedia.com/score).

So please don't delete without considering this fact. Zaheen (talk) 03:24, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Current easiness of words in the article[change source]

I have run the article through a vocabulary profiler found here : http://www.lextutor.ca/vp/

Currently the article has the following statistics:

  • First 1000 most frequent words in English according to NGSL : 83 % of the 203 distinct words in this article
  • First 2000 most frequent words in English according to NGSL : 90 % of the 203 distinct words in this article
  • First 2801 most frequent words in English according to NGSL : 92% of the 203 distinct words in this article

NGSL=New General Service List (link). It is a list of 2801 core vocabulary words published by Dr. Charles Browne, Dr. Brent Culligan and Joseph Phillips in March 2013.

The 14 words outside the above-mentioned core 2801 words list are : syntactic[1], transformations[1], american[1], chomsky[9], colorless[1], english[1], furiously[1], generative[1], mit[1] mouton[1], netherlands[1], noam[1], 20th[2], transformational[1]

Most of these are hard to eliminate because they are either the name of a person/place or part of the name of a theory or quotation.
