Venceremos
"Venceremos" (say: "ben-seh-REH-mohs", which means "We Will Win") is a Chilean song. This song was used for the Popular Unity of Chile, and it was made more popular by Chilean organisations, like Inti-Illimani and Quilapayún. This song was at its height during the 1970 Chilean presidential elections, during which people sung this song in order to support Salvador Allende.
The words of the song were written by Claudio Iturra, and the music was created by Sergio Ortega. To further support the left-wing party in the 1970 elections, the lyrics were written again by Víctor Jara, mentioning Allende and Popular Unity in the lyrics.[1][2]
This song became popular in the 1970s and has been translated into Portuguese, Italian, Russian, German, Swedish, Finnish, and Turkish languages; however, the authors of the last five are not known.
