Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport is an airport serving the Wichita and south Kansas area.

In 1929 Construction started at the administrative building for the Wichita Municipal Airport and in 1935, the airport was opened. The old administrative building of the airport is now the Kansas Aviation Museum. During the Second World War the Kansas National Guard Activated a military unit in the airport and after World War 2, the United States Air Force Sought out a permanent military base in Wichita and eventually took over the Wichita Municipal Airport after Wichita Mid-Continental Airport was built. The former Wichita Municipal Airport is now McConnell Air Force Base. [1]
