Wim van Helvoort (1938 – 11 September 2022) was a Dutch football player and politician.[1]

He was professional football player for 15 years with BVV and later with FC Den Bosch. After foundation of FC Den Bosch, Van Helvoort was a member of the team from 1965 to 1970. During these six seasons he played 161 matches. He captained FC Den Bosch for several years when it played in the second and first division. Van Helvoort had to stop playing professional football due to injuries in 1970.[2]

Van Helvoort combined his professional football career with a job at the North Brabant province and did a study in the evening hours. In social life he was active as chairman of the housing association SSW and he was involved in the founding the political party "Leefbaar 's-Hertogenbosch". He was a member of the city council of Den Bosch for the Labour Party for several years.

In 2009 Van Helvoort was diagnozed with Alzheimer's disease. Van Helvoort died on 11 September 2022 at the age of 84 from a pneumonia.[1][2]
