Zotikov Glacier
Appearance
Zotikov Glacier (85°2′S 169°15′E / 85.033°S 169.250°E) is a glacier in Antarctica that merges into another glacier. It is 8 miles (13 km) long, flowing northeast from Mount Fisher to Liv Glacier. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Dr. Igor Zotikov, Soviet glaciologist.
Zotikov was part of a program that trades scientists from one country to another, in this case from Russia to the United States. The name of the program was called the United States Antarctic Research Program. The program was located at the United States station in Antarctica called McMurdo Station. Zotikov did research at the station in 1965.[1]
