How to choose the right category/ies?[change source]

Many people today are mobile. They are born in one city, country and then they move somewhere else. Take for example Peter Abrahams who was born in South Africa according to his article and then he moved to Jamaica. Some are a lot more complicated. For example Al Arbour who the article says was born in Canada, but he played hockey for various USA teams and died in Florida. Just curious how we decide which categories of people-from-x we should add to such people. Your thoughts? Ottawahitech (talk) 23:51, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are talking about People From categories which are different than nationalities. You can only be from one place, no matter how much you move, you may live in other places but the place you came from was the place you were born. That is the convention used on ice hockey articles on en.wiki and can't see why it would be any different here. -DJSasso (talk) 11:02, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
