Character history[change | edit source]
Born as Anakin Skywalker, a slave on Tatooine who became a Jedi, he is converted by Palpatine to join his cause and to learn the ways of the Dark Side of the Force, defying his master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Vader dies in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, but not before returning to the Good Side, thanks to his son, Luke Skywalker. Luke was raised by his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru on Tatooine after his father turned to the Dark Side.
Darth Vader also has a daughter named Leia Organa, who was adopted by Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan. Luke and Leia are twins, but Darth Vader does not know Leia exists. His wife, Padmé Amidala Skywalker, the mother of his children, died after giving birth, and the Jedi took the children to keep them safe from the Dark Side.
Darth Vader wears a black uniform and a black cape. He also has a mask that lets him breathe, but the mask makes his breath noisy. Darth Vader got his mask to cover his face. Vader wears these things because they are kind of robotic and they keep him alive; he was badly burned when he caught fire in Revenge of the Sith.
Darth Vader is able to use the Force to push, pull, grip, and choke without touching anything. As a Sith lord, he uses the Force for evil; in contrast, Jedi use the Force for good.
