David Mendes da Silva Gonçalves (born 4 August 1982 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch footballplayer of Cape Verdean heritage and plays for F.C. Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga as defender or defensive midfielder. He is known for his dribblings and his tackling.

He started his career with Sparta Rotterdam, for this team he played five years except a short loan with Ajax Amsterdam in 2003. His next team was NAC Breda, where he played two years. From 2006 till 2010 he played for AZ Alkmaar. Under coach Louis van Gaal he reached the Dutch Championship in the 2008/09 season and the UEFA Champions League. He scored the 1:1 in the awaymatch versus Arsenal London in minute 93 on 20th October 2009. 2010 he went to FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.
