Hurricane Dolly was the first United States hurricane of 2008. The storm struck south central Texas with winds of around 100 miles an hour. Dolly caused no deaths within Texas, although damage was estimated between $1 billion and $2 billion.[source?] The storm hit in July 2008. Despite the extensive damage, the name Dolly was not retired.
