J. Riccardo Benavides (born 1955) is a Mexican-American high-profile event designer and planner based in San Francisco, Bay Area[1][2][3][4] who works nationally and globally.

Benavides was born in Northern California in 1955. He studied Interior design at the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design in San Francisco.[5]

Benavides is an event designer and planner[6][7] and founder of an event management company, Ideas Events & Rentals where is also serves as the creative director.[8][9][10] Benavides has designed events such as the Opening Night Galas for the San Francisco Opera,[11][12] San Francisco Fall Art Show,[13][14] The Fine Arts Museum Oscar de la Renta Retrospective,[15] and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music Gala.[16]

Riccardo started his company, Ideas Event Styling in 1992 after his long service at the Hyatt.[1] In the Bay Area, he is most known for his many years designing Opening Night Galas for the San Francisco Opera[17][18] and the San Francisco Ballet;[19][20] and has been the event designer for many events such as the Benjamin Millepied's Ballet,[21] The Fine Arts Museum Oscar de la Renta Retrospective,[15] San Francisco Edgewood, The League to Save Lake Tahoe Fashion Show, The Fall Antique Show, The San Francisco Conservatory of Music Gala, as well as other fundraisers including fashion shows, dinners and openings for the SF Opera[22] and SF Ballet.[23][24][25] As of 2023, Riccardo has been appointed by the Mayor of San Francisco as a Commissioner to the San Francisco Arts Commission.[26]
