Jhumar or Jhoomar is a traditional folk dance of Pakistan.[1] Jhumar originated from the Jhang region of Punjab.[2][3] It is very popular in the Sandalbar areas of Punjab, Pakistan.[4] It is slower and a more rhythmic form of dancing.[5] The word "Jhumar" comes from Punjabi word Jhum/Jhoom, meaning Swaying. Jhumar is usually performed at the wedding ceremonies.[6] The dance is usually performed in a circle, to the tune of traditional songs.[6]
