Morning Musume (モーニング娘。, Mōningu Musume.) is a Japanese girl group. They sing and dance J-pop upbeat music. The group can also be called Momusu (モー娘。, Mōmusu.). They are the most important group in the Hello!Project unity. The group is managed by Tsunku, who writes the words and melodies of the songs. They are the best selling female group in Japan.

History

Member's change and singles history

In 1997, a person called Tsunku, made a contest to chose a girl who would become a pop-star. A lot of young girls came to the contest, and some of them became finalists. There is where Tsunku chose the idea of making a girl group. This new group was called Morning Musume (Morning Daughters). The group was formed by Kaori Iida, Yuko Nakazawa, Asuka Fukuda, Aya Ishiguro and Natsumi Abe. They were the first generation singers in the group.

This group of young girls, made nice sales with their first songs. They became very famous, and Tsunku formed other small groups inspired by Morning Musume. He created the Hello!Project unity to hold them all.

Over time, when the girls become older and mature, they graduate from the group. After that, they become soloists or models with an individual career. New girls audition for the free spot in the group after a girl leaves.

Morning Musume today

Morning Musume is still a top selling female group. It has new girls and makes singles every few months. All the girls from the group appear frequently on TV and Radio. Their TV appearances are in the morning, especially for young people. They also make videoclips with the upbeat music and a lot of concerts around Japan.
