Supreme Council of the Armed Forces

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF; Arabic: المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة, al-Maǧlis al-ʾAʿlā lil-Quwwāt al-Musallaḥa, also Higher Council of the Armed Forces and National Defence Council) is a statutory body of between 20 and 25 senior Egyptian military officers. The Field Marshal is in charge of the supreme council. It is currently Abdul Fatah al-Sisi and Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki. The council mets only in cases of war or great internal emergencies.

The SCAF assumed power to take charge of Egypt after President Hosni Mubarak resigned on 11 February 2011.^[1]
