DYK

I have added the next next update to the DYK box. Pmlinediter  Talk 09:40, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know that I was just about to update when you updated DYK? I was about to archive and update, but since you updated just few seconds before me, I archived the new DYK set. (I fixed it though). :-) Pmlinediter  Talk 09:40, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
:D. Thanks for the work - i'm going to try and get my proposal online later today. Goblin 13:36, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

:)

Hurry back! Speak sometime on MSN/IRC whatever. :) Kennedy (talk • changes). (I ♥ BG7) 13:47, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll come back fully when the wiki sorts itself out. We need to stop trying to be a mini en and a place where people can just impose what they want and get hats. We need to stop seeing guidelines as policy. The list continues... But yes, i'll still be idling in #wikipedia-simple and active in ##bluegoblin7 :). Cheers, Goblin 13:53, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's coz epty's away :D . Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 14:10, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is "stupid"?

Its customary to begin dialogue with the blocking admin if you feel an action needs to be overturned. As far as I am aware, he has not requested unblock on his talk page, and I am currently in e-mail over this, with a board of trustee member. May I ask why it is, that you feel this block is "stupid"? Just because we do not yet have a COI guideline, does not mean the block is not justified by current practice on our larger wikis. I believe your action is unacceptable, and you need to take more care with your tools in the future, to prevent such a blatant mistake. I do not need consensus to apply a block, but I will need a consensus to overturn your action. Best. Synergy 17:33, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you care that much about it go get a de-sysop. I don't care. I'm fed up of this wiki pretending to be en and being a playground for users who don't get their way at en. Let's go build an encyclopedia. Goblin 17:40, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What you don't seem to realize, is that we are building an encyclopedia. It is these matters that get in the way of doing this. The "I don't care" attitude of admins like yourself. I don't want your head (-sysop), I want to change your actions in the future, to prevent these situations, and make it a smoother process so we can continue to build this pedia. We act like en.wiki, because they have a larger base, and have already hashed out most if not all of situations like these, so we don't have to. We use their experience to make our job easier. Synergy 17:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To me COI isn't a good guideline. Someone who's closely related to something has more knowledge about it and should edit it. I know a few cases which would probably surprise you. The block didn't seem that justified to me. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 20:36, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Attitude adjustment

BG7, please take this time that you're going to be off-wiki to work towards adjusting your attitude. Your actions and attitude surrounding the M.S. unblock are completely unacceptable out of any editor. Please make your decisions based around something more than "this is stupid." This notice here, with its "kthxbai," is snippy and a poor attitude towards your fellow editors. This is another issue which goes right back to the "drawing the line" which I've always been bothered by with you. You are essentially doing the same thing here by stating no clear intention to discuss your actions. And your comments in this discussion lack good faith when you're accusing 'crats of thinking they're better than everyone else (here, by the way, is where Synergy requested the tools restored).

Please take some time to work towards changing this attitude for the benefit of the whole. Thanks, Either way (talk) 20:16, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, he didn't say crats thought they were better than others, he asked is this another I'm better than everyone else crat action?. It's a question. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 20:38, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
...his question assumes that 'crats are making actions because they think they're better than everyone else. So, it is not assuming good faith there. Either way (talk) 20:40, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not always in the best interest of the wiki to AGF. ABF exists too, and be bold :). I don't see why AGF would be applicable here. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 21:01, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you've just gone from "he's not assuming bad faith" to "he doesn't have to assume good faith here." You AGF until given evidence of the otherwise. I've yet to see this "'crats think they're better" attitude displayed anywhere, so there's no evidence to give a reason to ABF as he has here. Either way (talk) 21:05, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

VGLs

Heh. Perhaps you are also aware that until my sabbatical I was a director of the FLC process on en.wiki? And that I'm currently a director on FLRC over there...! I'll have a think, look at the chances of this working here on Simple, and let you know. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:07, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I saw a recent change saying you deleted this article, but it is still up. Was it re-created right after you deleted it?--Gordonrox24 (talk) 00:19, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Gordon, I deleted a vandalised version of the article, and one of our other users, NonvocalScream, then created a "good" version based off the article at enwiki. Hope this clears things up. Regards, Goblin 00:23, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good! Thanks!--Gordonrox24 (talk) 00:25, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of London Underground stations

I am trying to help you out by creating some articles on the stations. Feel free to improve these articles as they'll be of a low pathetic quality. Pmlinediter  TalkO 12:18, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot :D. I'll probably follow on with Categories, Infoboxes, Stub tags etc. Regards, Goblin 12:19, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

QandA
  • The QandA. Every month, Kennedy interviewed one of the Simple English Wikipedia's editors, asking them about themselves, and their opinions on Wikipedia. It was an exciting insight behind the anonymous face of an online username. Unfortunately, Kennedy has left us, and will obviously not be doing the QandA. Bluegoblin7 has taken it over.

This weeks interview is with Juliancolton.

Portal:History

Hello, Bluegoblin7. I've seen your deletion on above mentioned page. Pity, I found it's subpages interwiki on the English Wikipedia. See this:

{{Wikipedia:Wikiportal/box-footer | {{{1}}} }}<noinclude> <!---Please place interwikis here---> [[simple:Portal:History/box-footer]] </noinclude>

There's not possibility for the Simple English Wikipedia to have PORTAL PAGES? Because if Swahili Wikipedia has it - what about simple? Cheers.--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 14:29, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well i'll go delete the sub-pages and let the bots de-interwiki :). We struggle to maintain processes such as DYK, (V)GA etc at the moment, adding Portals would be inappropriate, and nor is there consensus. And we are not the Swahili Wikipedia. Goblin 14:40, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously you didn't understand the question. I said: if Swahili Wikipedia has it - what about simple? I meant, portal can be available only to the biggest Wikipedia just like simple and not like Swahili one!! It means the Simple English Wikipedia are deserve to have the portal! And next time don't write calvary answer. All the best, Cheers.--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 15:28, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How do you mean "portal" - that may be the misunderstanding. If you mean "Portal" as in Portal:Foo, then there is not consensus amongst the wiki's users to have them - and that is what my first answer said. Goblin 15:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I accept the defeat. And this is not consensus between the wikis users! I was just want to know only. Cheers.--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 09:25, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK Stats

Since you are banning me from your channel on IRC, I want to ask you about your thoughts on a DYKStats which would help us know about the performance of an article when it is on DYK and do some analysis on that (how to promote DYK etc.). Pmlinediter  Talk 14:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not needed. We are short on hooks as it is, this will just strain already little resources. Don't get the bit in brackets, and couldn't really care. Goblin 14:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]
OK. Perhaps you could tell me why you banned me from your channel (on IRC). And perhaps you might care to expand DYK Queues. Pmlinediter  Talk 14:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi bluegoblin7. I just wanted to ask if you could move The Wave 96.4 FM back to The Wave, as there has been a dispute on Wikipedia about the station name. This would be appreciated. Thank You. Jonny7003 (talk) 18:21, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is a MOS issue, I'll check unless Blue does before me. NonvocalScream (talk) 18:21, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is Wikipedia... The problem is, "The Wave" is a very generic term and can relate to multiple things. How about The Wave (radio station)? Regards, Goblin 18:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]
The move was correct, EnWiki MOS for radio stations. NonvocalScream (talk) 18:23, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

96.4 The Wave will do fine. This term is more accurate. Thank You. Jonny7003 (talk) 18:26, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't blame you for the CU, believe me. Thanks for being so diligent. It's kind of a badge of honor when some dweeb hijacks another's username and tries to discredit him.
